We all know that a registry is usually not something for you to get excited about, but that can all change.  Check out the Man Registry.  You can create your own registry.

It's a site helps guide every groom through the wedding process, including the engagement and honeymoon planning.  Your Best Man might be interested too, the site talks about the duties of a Best Man and has ideas for planning a bachelor party!

Marry Me Productions

Ottawa wedding planner Stacey Price was the subject of an article in the Ottawa Citizen this weekend.

Stacey is the owner of Marry Me Productions, the coordinating force behind more than 40 weddings a year.  Only being in business for 5 years and has grown to this is pretty amazing, and she's done it all with style, and in heels.

Just 2 more days!

I got the invite to the party, my hotel and my airplane ticket... not to mention one of my girls to come with me.  The countdown is on to attending the biggest party I've been invited to yet!

It is still a little surreal, and by little I mean a lot!

A Facebook invite?

After you decide to get married, you set a date, decide who you want to invite, pick a venue that is suitable for the size of group, style and budget... then you send out some invitations.

Yes, this is a very simplified description, but it ended at my point... sending out invitations.

I was checking facebook as usual the other day when I came across the fact that one of my friends had accepted an invitation to someone's wedding... by Facebook; my friend will be attending Susie and Johnny's wedding. (names have been changed to protect the not so innocent)

While I do understand that we now live in a digital world and people do most things on their computers, Blackberry's and iPhone's, but when is it too much.  I have my opinions, mostly that some things deserve more than a Facebook invite, do some people really not agree and think that it's a great way to save some money?  I understand RSVP'ing by email.  Maybe even creating a Facebook page after the fact to share photos and share best wishes with the couple, but inviting people that way doesn't seem right.

What are your thoughts?  Is anyone in favour of using Facebook?  If so why?  Maybe your story can sway my opinion.

In a New York Minute...

That's how long it seems it has been since I found out I had the amazing opportunity of going to New York City to the book launch gala event for Preston Bailey's new book celebrations.

I've been consumed with excitement, and a flurry of activity.  Plus the major decision of what to wear!!  I've solved that problem, a cute little black dress solves all problems.

Now I just have the countdown.  1 week to go!!

The Breast Dress Project

A while back I posted about a location in Toronto where brides can donate their used wedding dresses.  I thought it was convenient that you could just mail your dress to them.  That was until I learned the other day that Ottawa wedding planner Stacey Price of Marry Me Productions and Jamie Johnson owner of Groovy Linen Rentals have started their own project.

Ottawa Brides now have a place to donate their dresses and all the proceeds of these dresses resold goes to Breast Cancer research!  What an amazing thing!

Hey Trixie... I am planning a bachlorette party for my cousin on May 2nd. We're all kinda old and looking for something other than the typical Market Pub Crawl. What do you suggest?

Since we've spoken a little further about this I do have to say that I love your Bond girls idea!  It sounds like a great bachelorette party idea, but if you are concerned that it might be a little much for your cousin there are many other things you can do. 

*  Spend the day at the spa, a place like Le Nordik - www.lenordik.com

*  Go to a comedy show at a place like Yuk Yuk's or Absolute Comedy.  Both places are near other restaurants and bars if you would like to continue the evening after the show. www.yukyuks.com or http://absolutecomedy.ca

*  Look at taking a cooking class for the day.  The Urban Element has great opportunities to try different foods and wines.  It's a great way to spend an evening among friends. http://theurbanelement.ca

*  At home parties, the could be anything (Pampered Chef to Make-up to Fantasia)   

*  Along your idea of Bond girls, what about 20's Style evening, Gangsters, Flappers, feather boas and have a nice dinner then see some live Jazz music.
